Falling for a Stereotype

It's fall, and I got to enjoy lunch outside on an absolutely perfect day.  Instead of a stereotypical work lunch, I got to chill out, enjoy some pizza, and watch a cornhole tournament.  Sometimes things aren't what they seem, and that's a good thing. With MS, I deal with stereotypes on a daily basis.  Since I walk with a cane, I deal with both positive and negative stereotypes.  On the positive … [Read more...] about Falling for a Stereotype

Can Do Day

Today is Can Do Day, the birthday of Can Do MS founder Jimmie Heuga.  When Jimmie was diagnosed with MS, he wasn't going to follow the advice to just sit back and let the illness zap away his life.  As a former Olympian, that just wasn't how he did things.  He focused on thriving with MS, and built an amazing organization of lifestyle empowerment programs.  In his memory, Facebook members were … [Read more...] about Can Do Day

Patting Myself on the Back

I need to serve up a little bit of credit for myself today.  For once, I had a good moment of parenting.  As most parents know, we get those moments so rarely, and we're usually too busy to know it.  For once, I handled a situation well, and I realized it. A little can mean a lot

First off, shout out to Jerimi, for reminding me about NaBloPoMo!  Ack, September started without me. I got reminded today why I am proud to be a North Carolinian.  There's a wonderful story that's gone viral that took place in a NC restaurant.  A family was eating out in a restaurant when an 8-year-old boy got upset and frustrated because he was hungry. As the mom of two boys, I'm well aware … [Read more...] about A little can mean a lot

*taptaptap* Is This Thing On?

Well, it hasn't been a month since my last post.  Close, but not quite. I can blame part of that on computer ills that kept me offline for over a week.  The biggest thing I learned during that time?  I am most certainly addicted to Facebook...specifically Mafia Wars. Contrary to popular belief, that doesn't mean my life has been boring.  Also contrary to popular belief, that doesn't mean my … [Read more...] about *taptaptap* Is This Thing On?
